Site Work, Day 1.

Highlight reel from the first day the excavator was here. All iPhone photos - the ones on the good camera aren't accessible right now, but they exist!

The hill the house will sit back into

Same hill, different angle. Big pile of dirt in the top right corner.

Same hill, from down below, where the yard drops off.

Panorama, from the bottom of the yard, looking up towards where the house will be.

Panorama, looking out to the mountains.

Panorama, from the top of the dirt pile, which is approximately the height of our second floor.

Panorama, from the opposite corner as the dirt pile.
Small pile of rocks I hauled out of the dirt, for future use as a walkway to the house.

Big Happenings!

Today, I was heading out to a family gathering in celebration of my Great Aunt Carol's life, just as the excavator was pulling into our road!

We've been lucky enough to be house sitting for friends whose house is right next door to the land we bought, and have been getting to know our new town better every day. We have an E-911 address now, and will have a PO Box soon, since there's no postal delivery on our road.

All day I've wondered about the progress at home, and tonight, Dave and I had time to talk, and wow - I'm amazed by what the folks who were working on our property today accomplished - Dave only sent me two pictures, though he took many more. I didn't want to see them today; I'm looking forward to getting home and seeing the reality of what has happened!

So, here are the pictures that I have:

This one is from the top of a dirt pile created by the excavator, and is approximately what we think the view from the second upstairs bedroom will be!

And this is the portion of land that the excavation crew really worked on today! This used to be full of growth and raspberry brambles (don't worry - there are more berries elsewhere!) and now it's just wildly different.

More updates to come tomorrow - and the next few days, and weeks for sure!
