Actual House! (At the factory...but still!)

Last week, I didn't work until later in the day, and Dave was able to work while I was working....so, we got to go visit our house-to-be at the factory, together! I'll probably go visit again, tomorrow. It's so amazing to get to see the house in the factory, and get more of a sense of it. What a sweet cozy home we're going to have.

All three modules that are visible in this picture are ours!

Looking from the entryway/kitchen into the living/dining space.
The framed out half wall will be the kitchen peninsula, and Dave is standing in front of the deck door opening.

Dining/living space (we haven't yet decided which this will be) and the kitchen peninsula wall.

Dining/living space, with our corner windows!

Half of upstairs, looking through the hallway, into the other bedroom.

What will be the other half of the bedrooms.

And because there are apps for that, Dave edited a couple of pictures we took to give a sense of the view!
This will be the view from the front door!

And this, the view from the corner windows! (approximately)

Foundation Work, Day 1

So, the foundation work has begun! First, the crew that came out assembled the forms, and then they waited for the concrete truck to show up - this took a while, since the concrete truck got lost.... perks of living in rural VT!

Concrete forms!

Concrete forms.
The step-down is to keep the foundation below the frost line - up higher, there will be dirt backfilled around the house, so it doesn't need to be down so far.

Concrete forms, taken from above.

First concrete pour!

Finishing up for the day!

Site Work, Day 2.

They dug the hole for the foundation! It's amazing how much more of a sense of the whole thing something as simple as a foundation hole gives the house site. This will definitely be mostly pictures and captions.

Dave's mom, his sister, and our nephews came to visit, so they are in many of these photos!

Heading over to explore in the dirt and foundation hole.

Lots and lots of wild raspberries. Yum.

Dave's mom, exploring the future basement.

Jamie, Dave, and Simon, exploring.

Looking down from the top corner.

The big pile of dirt.

Theo, on the big pile of dirt. It's about the height at which bedrooms will be located.

Both boys, adventuring on the dirt!

Grannie watches Simon climb up.

Simon looks down the long steep side of the pile.

Taken from the top of the pile, looking down.

From below, looking up.
Panorama, taken from the same perspective.
Another panorama, taken from below, looking up.
